Third Week of Roller Derby Bootcamp
There is no pain more piercing, more inconvenient, more aggravating than breaking your tailbone. I don’t know what happened. I was going in for a rock star slide, I was going through the directions in my head, I got low, I was about to commit and BOOM! Right on my ass! I had to take a moment, to find my breath… the pain shot right through my body and stole my breath from me. For this fall I had to actually take a time out in the bathroom to gather myself.
I sucked it up, and even though it hurt really bad to place one foot in front of the other, I finished practice. Thank god its Thanksgiving weekend and I have 4 days off to take care of this. It hurts to sit, stand, think, fart. I want so bad to put heat on it, but I can’t. I HAVE to go with ice… I hate ice.. I hate the cold… but I hate this pain much much worse!
Despite this tailbone nonsense, I’m really enjoying boot camp. I got my new skates (which I think is a big reason I fell hard, it’s like starting over learning to skate). I bought Riedell Rebel 3 speed skates. The other n00bs are awesome and we are getting a long great, I can see how this team becomes a sisterhood.
Off for more ice, and a lot more Advil!
